Gandhinagar, 12 December 2023: Guided by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the area surrounding the Dharoi Dam in North Gujarat is undergoing extensive development to emerge as a world-class and sustainable tourist pilgrimage destination.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the state government has specified Dharoi Dam as a pivotal area for tourism development. Multiple initiatives have been launched to convert Dharoi Dam into a tourism hub, linking prominent destinations like Vadnagar, Taranga, Ambaji, and Ran Ki Vav within a 90 km radius.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel recently toured the Dharoi Dam site to examine the progress of the ongoing development project, expected to incur an approximate cost of Rs. 1100 crores across three phases. During the visit, he acquired crucial information about the projects and received necessary guidance for forthcoming initiatives.
The Chief Minister was provided with operational details concerning Adventure Drive Road and Terminal Road during the inaugural phase of the proposed road network in this project.
The complete development of the Dharoi Dam area for tourism primarily encompasses the Adventure Water Sports Arena, various facilities and infrastructure, River Edge Development Leisure Show Infrastructure with Amphitheater, Panchatatva Park (Botanical Garden), Visitor Center, Water Experience Park, Earth Experience Park, Naad Brahm Upavan, Wind Experience Park, along with attractions like Sun Experience Park, Sky Experience Park, Island Gateway, and Jetty, all designed to be interconnected. Furthermore, the surge in tourist visits is expected to boost local economic activity and foster employment opportunities.
These projects will transform the Dam area into a significant economic powerhouse in the North Gujarat region, forming an appealing tourism circuit. Additionally, the development of spiritual, adventure, eco, and recreational activities will foster regional tourism across the entire area. Moreover, the influx of tourists is expected to stimulate local economic activity and generate employment opportunities.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, accompanied by key advisors, such as Dr. Hasmukh Adhia and adviser Shri M.S. Rathore, as well as Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Joshi, Tourism Secretary Shri Harit Shukla, and Water Resources Secretary Shri K.A. Patel, was present during the site inspection, along with other senior officials from pertinent departments.
